She was built as part of a series of brickwork buildings in 1905, Her purpose, to manage the disposal of rubbish from Auckland City. This included a 38m tall chimney, aptly named the “Destructor”.
By 1913 the development was deemed inadequate for Auckland’s needs and was relocated. The space was converted to include ‘double storeyed stabling’ for the 94 horses used to pull the city’s rubbish carts to the new location.
Elizabeth’s is honoured to now call these stables, Her home.

The styling looked fantastic, the chefs were super friendly & professional, the food was EPIC, the bar staff were efficient, kind, hard working, happy to take direction. You can all be really proud of what I’d describe as a KILLER team. Thank you so much for a great event.
